The Haworth public school serves students in kindergarten through
eighth grade. Students in ninth through twelfth grades attend
Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest, which is part
of the Northern Valley Regional High School district.
Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest was ranked
9th among New Jersey public high schools by New Jersey Monthly
magazine in 2008. The school has received the Blue Ribbon School
Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education,
the highest award a school can receive. Its highly regarded
music department has won North American school competitions.

Haworth is known for top-notch recreational opportunities provided
by the volunteer Recreation Commission. Facilities include beautifully
maintained fields for baseball and softball, four outdoor tennis
courts and a private indoor tennis club, a swim club and two
private golf courses.
The White Beeches Country Club features an 18-hole course built
in 1915 and designed by Walter Travis that has hosted U.S. Open
sectional qualifiers, Met Open qualifiers and the State Open.
The course at Haworth Country Club, which opened in 1965, was
designed by Toscana Filenti and redesigned by Robert Trent Jones,
Jr. in 2000.
The Haworth Municipal Library, part of the Bergen County Cooperative
Library System, loans books and other media like DVDs, and presents
cultural and educational activities that enrich life for the
entire community, particularly children.
The prestigious Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) is
a performing arts center near Haworth in downtown Englewood.

In Demarest, the Old Church Cultural Center is housed in the
building that was the first community’s first church built
in 1874. The OCCC includes the Art School and Center Gallery

Haworth Transportation
and Commute:
The main roads through Haworth for travel by car are Sunset
Avenue and Schraalenburgh Road.
New Jersey Transit buses travel from Haworth to the Port Authority
Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan, which takes about 40 minutes,
and to the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal in Upper Manhattan.
There is no train service between Haworth and Manhattan.
The New York Metropolitan region’s three major airports
- Newark Liberty International, JFK International, La Guardia
Airport – all are located within one hour of Haworth by
