and Commute:
New Jersey Transit bus service and private bus companies run
from Alpine toward Manhattan on routes using the George Washington
Bridge and the Port Authority. Each trip averages about 35 minutes.
No train line runs between Alpine and Manhattan.
The area’s three major airports – Newark Liberty
International, JFK International and La Guardia Airport – are
accessible by car within 45 minutes.

Recreational Resources:
Devil’s Tower, a stone clock tower in the Rio Vista neighborhood
in southern Alpine, was built by sugar baron Manuel Rionda in
the early 1900s. It endures as an intriguing local landmark.
The New Jersey Section of the Palisades Interstate Park runs
the length of Alpine along the top of the New Jersey Palisades
and along the Hudson River. Point Lookout at State Line Lookout,
situated at the highest point on the Palisades Cliffs, offers
unrivaled views of the Hudson, and Westchester County and Long
Island Sound in New York. Hiking and cross-country ski trails
are also available.
The Alpine Boat Basin provides a public picnic area and small
marina for private boats on the scenic riverfront area. Fishing
and hiking trails are within reach, in addition to the historic
Blackledge-Kearney House. Well known spots include the Excelsior
Dock, Huyler’s Landing, Twombly Landing. The Cornwallis
house nestled under the cliffs near the Alpine Boat Basin is
a state and national landmark, and 18th century house named after
General Charles Cornwallis who participated in the war of 1776.
The Montammy Golf Club is a full-service country club with a
beautiful golf course, tennis courts, a swimming pool, fitness
center, and social activities.
Alpine Scout Camp, a Boy Scouts camp, offers short-term camping
and a large selection of facilities from small tent sites to
a conference center that can sleep more than 40 campers.
